Integrating Quality and Traceability
Desdelsur participates in the entire chain of pulse production, i.e. seed development, planting and harvesting, as well as in the processing, transportation, and final commercialization of export products.
This participation in the different stages of the production process provides us a global view of the business, and a strong brand image recognition in the most demanding international markets.
Agricultural Production
We have 56,000 hectares of proprietary land, approximately half of which is in production, and the rest of it is allocated to forest reserves. We also have a production program for land rented in different regions of the country, which approximately add 12,000 further hectares of farmland.
The main production is warm-season pulses, beans being the main product, with about 18,000 hectares of different varieties planted annually. Peanut, corn, and soybean production is also worthy of mention. In the winter season, about 15,000 hectares are planted, mainly with chickpeas, and other crops like peas, lentils, and safflowers.
With all of our products we compete in the highest-value segments of the international market. This competitiveness if the result of constant innovation in a value chain supported by a continued investment process.
Producción Agrícola
Contamos con 56.000 hectáreas propias, de las cuales 28.000 están en producción y el resto destinadas a reservas forestales. A su vez tenemos un programa productivo en campos alquilados en diferentes regiones del país, donde se incorporan otras 12.000 hectáreas agrícolas.
Las legumbres de verano son las de mayor importancia, siendo el poroto el principal producto, con más de 18.000 hectáreas de diferentes variedades que se siembran anualmente.
En invierno se siembran alrededor de 17.000 hectáreas entre garbanzo arveja y lenteja.
Dentro del portfolio de otros productos que comercializa la empresa, se destacan el maní, el maíz, el cártamo y la soja.
Producción Ganadera
El desarrollo ganadero integral e intensivo de recría y engorde comienza en 2004.
Un modelo de alta carga basado en pasturas tropicales (mulato/tanzania), de alto contenido proteico y volumen, donde la empresa fue pionera en el país; que se complementa con insumos generados en el mismo establecimiento. (silo de sorgo, maíz, expeller de soja, descarte de poroto desactivado y cáscara de maní).
Complementario a este desarrollo Desdelsur cuenta con un feedlot de aproximadamente 60.000 cabezas.
La alta calidad de terminación de la hacienda nos ha permitido abastecer la demanda más exigente de la provincia de Salta, cuya fuente de aprovisionamiento tradicional han sido principalmente las provincias de Córdoba y Santa Fé.
Con el plan actual de expansión, que no solo incluye el abastecimiento local, sino la exportación de carne, proyectamos tener unas 80.000 cabezas en 2020/2021.
Livestock Production
Desdelsur currently has one of the largest and most modern cattle farms of the country, purely oriented to the production of heavy bullocks for export, with an important handling innovation. In the next years, we aim to produce 80,000 heads of animals for rearing and fattening (currently 60,000) for sale to the most demanding export markets, as the ‘EU 481 grain fed beef’ quota.
This is a great technological leap given the implementation of an innovative rearing system that requires a sophisticated management model focused on the efficiency of conversion and the final quality obtained. The creation of a livestock model for high-productivity in 100% agricultural lands implies a disruptive change capable of transforming production in the NOA (Argentine Northwest) region, with a strong creation of genuine employment, and the addition of regional value.
A high-load model based on consumption of tropical pastures (Rhodes/Mulato/Tanzania grass) of high-protein content and volume, supplemented by inputs manufactured at our facilities (corn silage, sorghum, soybean expeller, deactivated bean waste, and peanut hull). We have also implemented an innovative technique to take water to each rotative gazing plot, with significant production gains.
Our internal systems of information and traceability, livestock classification, measurement of results per animal and heath management follow the best international standards. The technological pack that we have developed was incorporated to a series of handling practices unique in our country.
Processing
Desdelsur has three plants, where it processes its own production of beans, peanuts and chickpeas, among other products, for export. This volume is complemented by that obtained from associations with other producers, and direct purchases of natural goods. These plants allow for a daily processing capacity of more than 500 tons.
General Mosconi processing plant (Salta)
This is the first plant of the company, which started operating in 2000. It is located on route 34, in General Mosconi, Province of Salta. It has a daily capacity of 250 tons.
Zárate processing plant (Buenos Aires)
This plant is one of the most modern and has one of the largest processing capacities of South America. Inaugurated in 2011, it is strategically located 1.5 km away from the port of Zárate, Province of Buenos Aires. The plant covers 9 hectares, 6 of which are used to store natural goods in silo bags, with a 25,000 ton-capacity The 7000 m2-shed has a storage capacity of 6000 tons of finished products, which adds to the 2400-ton capacity of the storage facilities. This plant allows for a daily consolidation of 300 tons of export products.
Peanut processing plant (Salta)
It is located within the production facility of Tartagal. The first stage of investment took place in 2008 with the construction of the pre-cleaning plant. The second stage of investment was completed in 2011 with the shelling facilities. It has a daily processing capacity of 150 tons.
